Dec. 11-13: Holy Cross Parish in Austin will present its annual Advent Revival. Father Oscar Pratt II will present "The Eucharist at the Visitation" based on Luke 1:41-44. Jan: 6-8: The fifth annual Biblical Institute will be held at Cedarbrake Catholic Retreat Center in Temple. Begin the new year learning about the great prophet Jeremiah who endured a lifelong vocation of proclaiming demanding and often controversial messages from God. Jan. 7: On the first Saturday of each month, Father Kevin Rai will lead Marian Mornings from 8:45 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. John Neumann Parish in Austin. The mini-retreat will begin with Mass and end with Holy Hour at 11 a.m., with prayer and a short break in between. Each Saturday's content will focus on a different aspect of Marian spirituality.
Jan. 14: All are invited to Encounter Carmelite Spirituality from 8:45 a.m. to noon in Morris Hall at St. John Neumann Parish in Austin. The Austin Community of Secular Discalced Carmelites invites all to explore St. Therese of Lisieux, her knowledge of the Little Way, spiritual sainthood and her special insight into God's mercy and grace. Jan. 14: The 2023 Saints & Scholars, Celebrating Catholic Schools will begin at the Hyatt Regency Town Lake in Austin. This annual dinner celebrates Catholic education in our diocese while honoring the “unsung” heroes at all 20 Catholic schools and raising funds that are returned to each school in support of their tuition assistance programs for students and families. Dominican Sister Amata Veritas Ellenbecker, prioress general of the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist, will be the keynote speaker. Details: csdatx.org.
Jan. 26: “Cedarbrake on the Road” will be offered from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish College Station. The gift of the Holy Eucharist will be the reflection topic led by Cedarbrake Chaplain Father Harry Dean and Cedarbrake Director Brian Egan.
