Let’s us pray for our priests and religious
In this month’s Interview, Bishop Vásquez encourages us to pray for more vocations. “Only God can move the hearts of men and women to consider the priesthood and religious life. So let us all pray that young men and women hear and respond generously to the Lord’s call to the priesthood and religious life,” the bishop says on page 5.
I think this is very important because we need more priests, and I don’t want to undermine the bishop’s words by any means. But I do want to add one thing: while we pray for more priests and religious, let’s also pray for our current priests and religious.
I have personally witnessed how faithfully our priests and religious serve the people of God. They are not perfect (no one is), but they work very hard and they are constantly being pulled in different directions. So as we pray daily for our future vocations, let us also take a few seconds each day to pray for our current vocations. May God strengthen them in mind, body and soul. Amen.
