Bishop Joe Vásquez ordained Matthew Jewell as a transitional deacon on May 20 at St. Margaret Mary Parish in Cedar Park. Deacon Jewell will complete his studies for the priesthood over the next year, and he will be ordained to the priesthood in June 2024. He is one of three children and grew up in Angleton, a town south of Houston. Deacon Jewell graduated from Texas State University in San Marcos and then entered the seminary.
