That They May All Be One

On Nov. 19, the Diocese of Austin kicked off the celebration of our 75th anniversary at the Bell County Expo Center. First the beautiful Mass with Bishop Joe Vásquez, then Father Dave Pivonka’s engaging presentation, then the time spent Adoration and finally the awesome music by the Dave Moore Band. Not to mention getting to see so many friends from all over the diocese.

While the day itself was wonderful, the days and weeks leading up to Nov. 19 were full! The diocesan staff and the 75th anniversary committee worked hard to get all the details under control. I am so grateful to work with a team of individuals who love the Lord and who love to serve. As Father James Misko said after the event, it’s not easy to celebrate Mass in a place that usually holds stock shows and monster truck shows. Thank you to all who joined us for the day!

The diocese continues to celebrate 75 years of faith. Don’t forget to purchase the Treasures of the Diocese of Austin book at your parish or at the diocese. Also don’t forget to visit one of the five pilgrimage sites and fulfill the other obligations to earn a plenary indulgence. For more details on the 75th anniversary, visit www.austindiocese75.org.
