St. Joseph Parish in Manor rejoiced as Bishop Joe Vásquez dedicated its new church at 10104 Hill Ln. in Manor on Jan. 21.

“I thank you for the generosity of time, energy and resources you have given to construct this church, which is truly worthy to be called a house of God,” the bishop said in his homily.

The new church sits on a 25-acre plot adjacent to Manor High School. Eventually, along with the church, there will also be a parish hall and modular buildings for functions such as religious education and a rectory.

The Diocese of Austin reserved $10 million from the Encountering Christ Capital Campaign to help build new churches in Austin’s Eastern Ring. Thanks to donations to the capital campaign, St. Joseph in Manor, Santa Barbara Parish in East Austin and San Francisco Javier Parish in Southeast Austin were assisted in building new churches for their growing communities. The other two churches are nearly complete and will be dedicated soon.
