Veronica Tellez

Veronica “Ronnie” Tellez has worked in the Facilities Department at the Diocese of Austin for eight years. For a while after she began working in this position, Tellez wondered how she was ministering to the people of God as the facilities manager.

“I have come to realize the Facilities Department is all about service. We provide services to our co-workers at the different buildings we manage so that they can be more comfortable and happier, which then helps them provide better service to those in our parishes across the diocese,” she said.

Tellez particularly enjoys completing projects, big and small.

“It is very rewarding to work with our vendors and manage a project from its very beginning to its completion,” she said.

Tellez also loves sharing the faith with her co-workers at the Pastoral Center and with the vendors who provide services.

“I sincerely enjoy being able to talk about Jesus and Mary with my co-workers and not be ashamed. I also try very hard to bring the Gospel to our vendors and often they ask questions about our church,” she said.

One of the most challenging aspects of her position is the inevitable delays that often happen during construction projects. “Delays can be frustrating, but we want to make sure everything is done properly.”

Tellez and her husband Ismael are parishioners of San Francisco Javier Parish in Austin. She has five children and eight grandchildren. Her favorite saints are St. Therese of Lisieux and St. Padre Pio.
