JULY 27: The annual Restorative Justice Ministry Day of Reflection will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at St. Margaret Mary Parish in Cedar Park. This year’s theme is Encounter, Connecting, Transforming.

JULY 27: RED-C Apostolate and Ablaze Ministries will host the third annual Family Retreat from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at St. Louis Parish in Waco. This year’s theme is “Praying as a Family,” with a presentation from featured speaker Deacon Ralph Poyo. All families in the diocese are invited to attend.

AUG. 3: On the first Saturday of each month, Father Kevin Rai will lead Marian Mornings from 8 a.m. to noon at St. Elizabeth Parish in Pflugerville. The mini retreat will begin with Mass and will include a teaching, prayer time, silence and time for the sacrament of reconciliation.


AUG. 3: St. John Neumann Parish in Austin will host a First Saturday Mass for Vocations followed by a Holy Hour for Vocations at 8:45 a.m.


AUG. 3: A Filipino Mass is celebrated on the first Saturday of the month at 4 p.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Parish in Austin. Fellowship follows the Mass in the Parish Activity Center. All are invited to bring a dish to share. Come and join us and meet your kababayan!


AUG. 9: Will you get out of the boat and trust me, a day of reflection, will be offered from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Cedarbrake Catholic Retreat Center in Temple. As Catholic Christians, we are invited to follow Jesus, to go with him where he calls us. Russell Hoyt, the diocesan director of evangelization and catechesis, will present.

AUG. 11: Church of the Assumption in West will host its annual Feast Day Festival at the West Knights of Columbus grounds. Fried and baked chicken and sausage with all the trimmings will be served for $13 per plate. Plates-to-go begin at 11 a.m. and inside dining begins at 11:30 a.m. There will be games, a country store, and more. A live auction begins at 12:15 p.m.

AUG. 15: The feast of the Assumption of Mary, a holy day of obligation. Diocesan offices will be closed.


AUG. 18: St. Monica Parish in Cameron will host its annual Homecoming Festival on the parish grounds. The day begins with a Polka Mass at 10 a.m. Barbecue beef and sausage plates will be served at 10 a.m. for $15 a plate until sold out. There will be game booths for all ages, food booths, and a live auction and live entertainment throughout the day.


AUG. 23-24: Gifted and Called: Empowered by the Holy Spirit, a weekend retreat, will be offered at Cedarbrake Catholic Retreat Center in Temple. Come and discover the ways you are gifted and called to be an instrument for the Lord. This one-night retreat will be led by Mary Pomeroy, a trained spiritual director and member of St. Albert the Great Parish in Austin. Costs: $175 for a private room, $135 for a shared room and $75 for commuters.

AUG. 24-25: Catholic Charities Weekend in the Diocese of Austin. All are invited to learn more about Catholic Charities of Central Texas and its continued work to eliminate poverty and strengthen families across Central Texas.

SEPT. 2: Diocesan offices will be closed for Labor Day.


Sept. 10-13: Alan Ames, a Catholic evangelist and mystic, will be in the diocese at the following locations: St. Paul Parish in Austin on Sept. 10 at 6:30 p.m., St. John Neumann Parish in Austin on Sept. 11 at 6:30 p.m., St. Helen Parish in Georgetown on Sept. 12 at 6:30 p.m., and St. John the Evangelist Parish in Marble Falls on Sept. 13 at 6:30 p.m. Each evening will include Mass, a presentation, adoration and a healing service with Ames, who travels globally seeking to help heal those with mental, physical, emotional and spiritual ailments.

SEPT. 21: September is Suicide Prevention Month. A Mass and remembrance ritual will be celebrated at 9 a.m. at St Albert the Great Parish in Austin. Father Charlie Garza will celebrate the Mass.


SEPT. 28: Triumph of the Cross, a Discalced Carmelite Secular community, will host coffee and breakfast at Santa Rosa de Lima Parish in Andice. Holy Cross Brother Joel Giallanza will speak on St. Therese and the Eucharist. All are welcome.
